Kareema Grey

BIO

Kareema was born in Toronto, Canada May 26, 1981. Shortly after birth, she moved to Ossining, New York where her grandmother raised her.

Kareema recognized, from a very early age, that she had a forte for singing and that she wanted to become a professional singer one day. She was relentless in the pursuit of her dream, entering numerous talent shows and volunteering to sing at the slightest opportunity. Such public appearances boded well for the young Kareema, allowing her to develop musically and showcasing her unique talent to the wider public.

Over time, Kareema got together with three of her friends and started a group called “4-Da-Flav”. The group performed at community centers, block parties and other community-oriented events; all this before she was 15.

After turning 15, Kareema was offered a role in a theatrical group called Frankie Patterson Productions. Frankie Patterson Productions was made up of teenagers, all of whom were from the Westchester County area. The group sang and performed dance routines all over Westchester County and even had the exciting opportunity of performing on dinner boat cruises around Manhattan.

At age 18, Kareema returned to Canada where she continued to pursue her career, singing background vocals for various studio projects in the Toronto area. She even did some back vocals for the well-known hip-hop artist, Kardinal Official before he made it big.

In 2003, the lead singer of the band Colour Quest, Dion Simon, overheard Kareema singing in a car while walking by. He was so impressed by the strength and sweetness of her vocals that within days he invited Kareema to join the group. She accepted.

Colour Quest is now a major part of Kareema’s life along with her beautiful little girl, Maria. Although she has a hectic schedule, she still finds time to write and record her own music in the studio.

Her music is a heavy blend of her Caribbean roots and R&B vocals.

Kareema hopes that one day she will be an inspiration to young aspiring singers.
